title Oga Aquarium Beach one word explanation the magma trail that extends before the aquarium keywords geologynaturesearch confirm, register Oga Quasi-National Park conservation laws and ordinance Natural Parks Act
The flat red rocks of the beach in front of GAO were formed by lava flow from the volcano about 30 million years ago. The grey rocks that rise up from the ground are called dikes and were formed when magma flowed up through cracks from deep within the earth, hardening as it cooled. The Swiss Woman Memorial Stone honors the precious lives lost here in the tsunami following the Sea of Japan earthquake of 1983.
